Spectralis – OTC, new diagnosis technology
Installed in the Valencia centre, this multi-modal, non-invasive, non-contact platform provides specialists with unique views of the structure and function of the eye. Thanks to this technology, the specialists can detect, with greater precision, patients with macular degeneration (ARMD) and glaucoma, the world’s main neurodegenerative diseases that cause blindness.
ThermaEye and Ellipse.
This is a new treatment for dry eye syndrome and has been installed in the Alicante, Valencia and Madrid centres. The technology is non-invasive and painless, and is used to stimulate the meibomian glands (located on the eyelids) without the need for surgery. It also reactivates circulation and it acts on the nerve endings, in order to control the production and secretion of oils, thus improving the quality of the patient’s vision.
Additionally, the Group has improved its Assisted Reproduction Units by incorporating the most advanced technology in reproductive medicine, so as to be at the forefront of processes as well as results, offering high effectiveness and success ratios in each of its treatments.
New reproductive technology
A particular highlight from among the new advances that were implemented are Time Lapse incubators, the most modern and innovative human embryo incubation system. There is also a new laser system to carry out embryo biopsies, offering the possibility of performing pre-implantation genetic diagnoses from the third to the fifth day of embryo development.
DaVinci – pioneering robotic surgical equipment
DaVinci is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to augment the capabilities of surgeons. It constitutes a minimally invasive option for complex surgical procedures and it provides a multitude of benefits.
For the patients:
Using the DaVinci platform in an intervention means that the subsequent recuperation process will be much quicker. It reduces the patient’s stay in the hospital by up to 50% and saves on 33% of the resulting hospital costs, in addition to reducing post-operation pain and blood loss.
For the surgeons:
The use of the DaVinci platform multiplies the view of the area of intervention by ten, increasing the ease of access to complicated organs and reducing the learning curve for laparoscopic techniques.
Using the platform reduces tiredness and stress during the intervention, as well as decreasing the operation time, in comparison with the aforementioned techniques.
For the healthcare system:
Performing interventions using DaVinci decreases hospitalisation time, the likelihood of complications during the operation and the need for subsequent interventions.
